Canada-manitoba job grant
The Canada-Manitoba Job Grant provides funding to employers to help cover training costs of new and existing employees to meet business needs, and help Manitobans gain the skills they need to fill available jobs.
Available Funding
Employers can apply for up to $10,000 per training participant, up to a maximum of $100,000 per organization.Â
Small companies with 100 or fewer employees can apply for up to 75% of eligible training costs.
Companies with 101 or more employees can apply for up to 50% of eligible training costs.
Eligibility
Organizations
The following organizations are eligible to apply for funding under this program:Â
• Private employers
• Non-profit organizations
• Industry associations, sector councils, groups of employers
• Union halls
• First Nations
• Municipal governments
Individuals
The following individuals are eligible under this program:
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
• Full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees
• Unemployed and seeking training to get a job
• Employees who reside in another province, but are working in Manitoba
What Costs are Eligible for Funding?
- Tuition fees or fees charged by an external training provider
- Mandatory student fees (These will be assessed on a case-by-case basis)
- Textbooks, software and other required materials (these will be assessed on a case-by-case basis)
- Examination fees
- Travel costs for individuals residing in northern and remote communities to attend training events in Manitoba delivered outside their communities or unavailable online
How is the Job Grant Paid to an Employer?
Payments are made once all training has been completed and reporting requirements are met. Advance payments are not available.
Employers are required to report on their actual training costs and completion of training. Employers must submit the following in order for payment consideration:
• Training Plan Report – This report is provided to the company upon approval of their application and the signing of a Canada-Manitoba Job Grant Agreement
• Training Evaluation – Included with the Training Plan Report.
• Proof of payment of eligible training costs.Â

Canada-ALBERTA job grant
The Canada-Alberta Job Grant provides funding to employers to help cover training costs of new and existing employees to meet business needs, and help Albertans gain the skills they need to fill available jobs.
Available Funding
Employers can apply for up to two-thirds of the cost to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee per fiscal year.
If hiring and training an unemployed Albertan, up to 100% of training costs could be covered, up to $15,000 per trainee.
A maximum of $300,000 in small business grants may be awarded each year.
Eligibility
Employers
The CAJG is available to:
- Private sector employers, including sole proprietors and partnerships
- Non-profit sector employers
- First Nations and Metis Settlements
- The Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (if in a community with a population of 100,000 or less)
- Alberta Treasury Branches (if in a community with a population of 100,000 or less)
To be eligible, Alberta employers must have current or potential employees who need training to fill current or future positions.
Trainees
CAJG trainees must be one of the following:
- Canadian citizens
- Permanent residents
- Protected people under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) who are entitled to work in Canada
- Business owners (incorporated, unincorporated, sole-proprietor, partnerships) with 4 or fewer employees, including all owners, are now eligible trainees
- Employed family members
All eligible trainees must live in Alberta.
Online training is considered to take place in Alberta. If the employer is requesting out-of-province training, the employer must indicate this under the Training Provider section of the application and provide an explanation as to why this request is necessary
How is the Job Grant Paid to an Employer?
The employer is responsible for selecting and paying the trainer. To be reimbursed for the eligible training costs, the employer must:
- Read the Training Completion checklist
- Fill out the Training Completion

Canada-Saskatchewan job grant
The Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant is an employer-driven program that:
- Helps businesses and non-profit organizations train new or existing employees for available jobs; and
- Provides more opportunities for unemployed and underemployed workers to receive training.
Available Funding
Employers can make multiple grant applications to a maximum of $100,000 per fiscal year, and up to $10,000 per individual trainee.
Eligibility
Employers
Eligible employers must be:
- A business registered in Saskatchewan pursuant to The Business Corporations Act
- Incorporated by, or registered under, an act of the legislature of a province, or the Parliament of Canada
- A business that conducts operations in Saskatchewan
- A business that is in good standing with the province
Trainees
Eligible trainees must be:
- Selected by an eligible employer
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or a protected person within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) entitled to work in Canada
- Able to provide a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
How is the Job Grant Paid to an Employer?
The employer is responsible for selecting and paying the trainer. To be reimbursed for the eligible training costs, the employer must:
- Complete the Employer Application Form
- Obtain a Training Provider Quote
Each application can only have one training provider quote attached to it. Only fully completed applications will be accepted for assessment. Applications will be accepted, assessed and approved based on available funding.
